About Me/Contact Information

I'm a fifth generation Native Texan.  My father's ancestors first appeared in Texas about the time of the Battle of the Alamo.  While my brothers and I were raised in the East Texas oilfields, I now find myself permanently residing not too far from the above-noted shrine of Texas independence.

I'm a fugitive from the business world, having spent most of my time in the manufacturing business after graduating from college with an MBA.  I founded a company in the 1980's called "ODISTA" and used it as a vehicle to buy companies whose balance sheets weren't particularly inviting to other parties.  I sold my investment in the subsequent decade and have since been content to confine my time and artistic endeavors to oil painting and sculpting.

Oil Painting
Since jumping into the world of oil painting several years ago, I've had the pleasure of taking extended classes and workshops from some of the very best artists including Bill Scheidt, Bill Zaner, David Caton, Jay Hester, Michael Albrechtsen, Jeff Legg, Carolyn Anderson, Nancy Bush, "V" Vaughan and several other notable artists.  Each artist has taught me something else about myself and the particular technique they bring to the studio.

I am, or have been, a member of Oil Painters of America and the American Society of Bovine Painters.  My work has been juried into shows, but the primary index of my success is to sell paintings to an clientele who appreciate the same kind of art as I.

Sculpting
Many years ago (okay, maybe half a century), I was a transient major in architecture.  I truly enjoyed the rather structured approach to three dimensional planning encompassed in that discipline and got my first taste of sculpting.  While ultimately I changed majors, I continued to dabble in clay and other media.

Although I really enjoy the art of painting in two dimensions, for some time I've wanted to get back into three dimensional art.  So, I took a few lessons a while back and started chasing this medium with a conviction that I have something to offer.  I hope you concur with my aspiration of bringing something unique to the field of sculpting.

I am a member of the Texas Society of Sculptors.  To see my current offerings in the sculpting area, just click here or on the "Sculpting" tab at the left.
